aw enforcement officers from the Bristol Tennessee Police Department and the U.S. Veterans Administration attended crisis intervention training this week at Northeast State. The training was sponsored by the Tri-Cities CIT Coalition.

The course is based on the nationally recognized Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program that teaches how to decrease the intensity of a situation, assess an appropriate response, and facilitate a practical resolution. The goal is to increase the number of qualified individuals who can provide this intensive skill training.

On Friday, the group heard presentations by Judge Jim Goodwin of the Sullivan County Court and Recovery Court, and Kenneth Knight, a certified peer recovery specialist with the CDC Foundation in Knoxville.

Thanks to support from the Basler Library staff, Workforce Solutions, the NE State Police Department, and the College's Plant Operations staff.
